Sports Performance Nutrition

Proper nutrition is the key to any athlete’s performance. Dr.’s Jacob and Katie Sherer both hold a Masters in Nutrition and Human Performance as well as a Masters in Sports Science. Their experience with professional MMA athletes, as well as collegiate and high school level athletes, has led to the development of their physician designed nutrition program. Baseline athletic nutrition is important not only for performance, but for both injury prevention and recovery. Dr.’s Katie and Jacob have spent years developing a program that supports proper physiology and function to create tailor made nutrition programs to fit each athlete’s individual nutritional needs.

Movement Coaching

You must crawl before you walk. Neurological development is integral to the performance of all athletes. Neurological training prevents injury, increases performance and recovery. Dr. Jacob specializes in neurological movement training and fills the gaps that many other performance programs leave behind. In-person and virtual coaching are available.

Mixed Martial Arts

The weight cut is one of the most talked about components of MMA competition. If you follow the sport, you will see many stories of professional athletes with detrimental effects from the weight cut. These effects include severe dehydration that can lead to life threatening conditions. You will also see many stories of competitors that can’t make the cut. Dr.’s Jacob and Katie work to reduce the negative effects of a weight cut and make sure their athletes are on point. In-person and virtual consulting are available.

“Before working with Dr. Katie & Dr. Jacob I was doing my cut to 145 by myself. In order to make weight, I did what most competitors do and starved by eating just 2 salads a day. I constantly felt drained during my training camp. Now, I eat 5 times a day during a cut, which way more food than I was eating before. I have a ton more energy now and the weight comes off smoothly. Reducing the negative effects of the weight cut has helped improve my performance in the cage.”
